Family day is great value
HOW much would a family of four usually expect to spend on a full day's entertainment, including admissions then carnival rides and professional shows, food and refreshments?
HOW much would a family of four usually expect to spend on a full day's entertainment, including admissions then carnival rides and professional shows, food and refreshments?
How does $50 sound?
Well, that's a very real possibility for the families who'll visit this year's Transport Workers Union Sun Weekly Central Coast Convoy for Kids family fun day at Gosford Showground on Sunday, August 10.
The day kicks off with a convoy of vehicles travelling from Tuggerah Business Park to Gosford Showground.
Owner-drivers pay $25 to take part in the procession, while the registration fee for company vehicles is $50.
Hundreds of vehicles take part each year, and locals line sections of the route to watch the colourful spectacle.
At 9am the attention switches to Gosford Showground where the gates are thrown open to the family fun day.
Admission is by an optional gold coin donation, with all children younger than five years admitted for free.
Inside the showground, the scene is set for a wonderful day of family entertainment and all on the cheap.
The $2 rides start at 10am, and the full day's program ensures that there is always something going on.
